Situation
Valbirse was born on January 1, 2015 from the merger of the municipal communes of Bévilard, Malleray as well as the mixed commune of Pontenet.
The mixed commune of Valbirse, with around 4,000 inhabitants and a total surface area of 1,868 hectares, has the infrastructure and services necessary for its citizens to flourish.
Families will find everything they need for their children: the Au P'tit Château day nursery, elementary school, all-day school, secondary school run by the school syndicate and a branch of the regional Youth Action. Senior citizens have not been forgotten: in collaboration with the commune, a seniors' association called AGAVE has been set up.

Leisure time
As far as leisure activities are concerned, there's plenty to keep you entertained, both culturally and athletically. These include the Palace cinema, the Orval SA swimming pool and the games library. And thanks to the companies and infrastructures in the area, you can practice a wide range of sporting disciplines. The year 2023 will even see the opening of a Bikepark.
As the region is known for its peaceful footpaths, our commune also offers a number of walking opportunities, including a trip to one of the peaks that dominates the commune, namely Moron. Here you'll find the Tour de Moron, built between 2000 and 2004 by apprentice masons from all over French-speaking Switzerland and designed by architect Mario Botta. Even though it's not currently possible to climb the Tower, a walk in Moron - as in Montoz - is well worth it!
